Course content
1. Basic economic starting points and principles. 2. Consumer behavior, demand formation. 3. Behavior of the company, formation of the offer. 4. Market structures, formation of market balance, analysis in the short and long term. 5. Imperfect competition - characteristics of monopoly, oligopoly, monopolistic competition. 6. Markets of production factors (labour market, capital market, stock exchanges). 7. Macroeconomic aggregates, goals and tools (including the Magic Quadrilateral). 8. Measurement of gross domestic product, formation of macroeconomic balance (AD-AS model). 9. Fiscal policy, state budget. 10. Monetary policy, money and banking. 11. Unemployment, inflation (Phillips curves). 12. International trade, balance of payments. 13. Economy of the Czech Republic, economic entities, behavior of entities in the conditions of the Czech Republic.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Skills training
  • Contact teaching - 26 hours per semester
  • Preparation for a credit (assessment) - 20 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 20 hours per semester
  • Writing a seminar paper - 23 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic macroeconomic and microeconomic concepts and issues of general relations in basic economic issues.
The student will gain a basic overview of macroeconomic variables in the economy of the country and an overview of basic microeconomic concepts in business.
Prerequisites
The student should be oriented in basic mathematical operations and work with graphs at the level of a high school graduate.
