Course content
The content of the course is the basic concepts of macroeconomics and microeconomics: Macroeconomic objectives and instruments; measurement of gross domestic product and income; money and banking, development; central bank monetary policy; unemployment; inflation; state budget; international trade, balance of payments; basic elements of the market - demand, supply, price, competition and market formation. consumer behavior and demand formation, utility, indifference analysis; elasticity of supply and demand; firm, main activities of firm, production in short and long term, income and costs of firm; business entities in the Czech Republic; company behavior in the model of perfect competition; imperfect competition, characteristics, monopoly, oligopoly, monopolistic competition; factor market, stock exchange. In the case of distance learning, lessons will be tought trough MS Teams. Lessons will be at the time shown in the timetable. MS Teams is equivalent to participation and or attendens in lectures and excersises.

  • Home preparation for classes - 40 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic macroeconomic and microeconomic concepts and issues of general relations in basic economic issues.
The student will gain a basic overview of macroeconomic variables in the economy of the country and an overview of basic microeconomic concepts in business.
Prerequisites
The student should be oriented in basic mathematical operations and work with graphs at the level of a high school graduate.
