The aim of the course is to increase the level of knowledge and skills of students in key areas of high school mathematics and linear algebra, which are necessary for the study of economics and other subjects.
A student who has successfully completed the course is able to describe sequences and elementary functions of a single variable and their properties; to explain basics of linear algebra, arithmetic vectors, matrices and determinants; to distinguish and understand permutations, variations and combinations with and without repetition. A student who has successfully completed the course is able to identify and draw graphs of simplest elementary functions; to calculate with vectors and matrices; to determine linearly dependent and independent vectors; to know elementary operations with matrices, to find the rank and inverse of a matrix; to find determinants of the 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4 matrices; to apply Gaussian elimination method and Cramer´s rule to solve a systém of linear equations. A student who has successfully completed the course is able to understand basics of high school mathematics and linear algebra.
