Course content
Basic concepts, data, and their quality, information and its definition, information system, introduction to the basics of systems theory. Database systems as a technological platform of information systems. Classification of information systems. Life cycle and ways of implementation of information systems. Process modeling as a basis of information system design. Security of information systems. Computerization of public administration, e-government.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of information systems and their life cycle, with greater emphasis on analytical phase, the further objective is to acquaint students with the issues of eGovernment and the current state of computerization of public administration in the Czech Republic and the European Union.
A student who has successfully completed the course can: define basic concepts and know their use; characterize the technological platform of information systems; explain the informatization of public administration, its development and what it involves; describe the specifics of individual types of information systems according to fields and level of management; characterize the life cycle of the information system and its possible ways of putting it into practice; explain the security risks of information systems; characterize e-government services in the Czech Republic. A student who has successfully completed the course will: define entities and attributes needed for a particular data model; to create a process model as a basis for information system design; propose the involvement of the information system in the selected process in the organization; control the basic functions of the selected information system. A student who has successfully completed the course is able to: summarize the views of other team members in a clear way; communicate comprehensively and convincingly to professionals and laypeople about the nature of professional problems and their own opinion on their solution.

The assignment is awarded for attendance at seminars, completion of assignments deadlines, elaboration and successful defense of the semester project. The exam is written.
