Course content

Time series analysis. Decision-making. Multi-criteria decision methods. Risk decision-making. Statistical and non-statistical decision-making approaches. Introduction to decision support systems (DSS). System approach to decision-making (reality - system - model - decision). Decision support technologies. Methodology, technical components and DSS design. DSS modelling. New trends.

Learning outcomes
|
This course provides students with the knowledge of decision-making processes and technologies.
Students will be aware of the decision-making issues, they will be able to explain the basis of decision-making in individual circumstances. They will be able to solve decision-making tasks using decision-making support tools. They will be familiar with the basic structure of these systems and the role of each component.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Work-related product analysis, Creative work analysis
Assignment is conditional to minimum 75 % attendance at seminars, completion of tasks set at seminars with the success rate of each task of at least 60 % (ie. grade 3), and submission of a completed seminar project as set. The examination will be written and oral, students are required to present and defend the final project on a given topic related to the course. Grading is based on 40 % continuous seminar grade, 60 % final project presentation and defence, a written test and successfully answering examiner´s questions.
