Course content
Consumer Legal Relationships - General Characteristics. Sources of legislation. EU consumer directive, consumer protection in the EU. Concept of consumer and businessman. Legal regulation of consumer protection under the Civil Code and other regulations. Contractual consumer relations. Consumer protection when selling goods in a shop, concluding contracts, focusing on so-called conformity with the purchase contract. Liability for defects in the sale of goods in the shop, liability for defects in the contract for work. Complaint. Contracts concluded at a distance (distance contracts), off-premises contracts. Unfair business practices.

Learning outcomes
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issues of consumer protection with a focus on European private law, especially consumer contracting.
1853/5000 A student who has successfully completed the course can: explain the concepts of consumer law and consumer law; explain the concepts of entrepreneur and consumer; to characterize international and European consumer protection regulations and their relationship to consumer protection; explain the basic principles of private consumer protection. explain the content of the EU consumer directive and other aspects of consumer protection in EU law; describe the legal regulation of consumer protection when selling goods in the shop and concluding other contracts; to characterize the legal regulation of liability for defects in the sale of goods in the shop and within the contract for work; to characterize the legislation of distance contracts (contracts) and off-premises contracts. A student who has successfully completed the course can: to understand the Civil Code and the Consumer Protection Act, to find solutions to the presented problem in these legal regulations; be familiar with international and European consumer protection legislation; interpret and explain comprehensively individual aspects of consumer protection in the sale of goods in a shop, in the context of liability for defects in the sale of goods in a shop or within a contract for work and in the case of distance contracts and off-premises contracts; interpret and explain clearly the content of the submitted consumer contract; Recognize in practice when and how private consumer protection regulation can be applied; to solve a simple case study on consumer protection. The student who has successfully completed the course is able to: use and interpret your knowledge of consumer legal protection in practice; to communicate in a clear and convincing way to professionals and lay people information on the nature of professional issues and their own opinion on their solution.
