Course content
History of selected world metropolises. Historical development of municipalities and villages in the are of the Czech Republic. Historical development of attitudes to the spatial development planning. Spatial planning - historical development, building act of the Czech Republic. Spatial planning - stakeholders, tools. Spatial planning - master plan creation process Spatial planning - implementation Spatial planning - monitoring and evaluation Strategic planning - historical development, linkages to the sustainable development. Strategic planning - stakeholders, tools, attitudes. Strategic planning - specifics of the strategic planning in the local and regional self-government environment. Strategic planning - demands for well-designed documents Strategic planning - implementation and evaluation Sustainable mobility plans Contemporary problems in the city management.

Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to provide overview about the tools and techniques in the spatial development.
Student is able: to individually decide in contemporary as well as upcoming circumstances in the framework of wider social impacts of decisions; to design instructions for deep-specialized activities and coordinate them; to individually solve ethic problems; to comprehensively and conclusively share own expert opinion to specialists as well as to the public.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination, Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment

Student performance assessment. Seminar paper. Written examination, oral interview. The assignment is granted upon completion of the following conditions: attendance at seminars, submission and adjustment of the seminar paper. The examination is granted upon the successfully completed written test and oral interview.
