Course content
Current challenges in international environmental policy. Data versus political promises in EU. Causes and development to the current state I (developt countries). Causes and development to the current state II (developing countries). Current scientific discourse and public policy orientation. Related scientific disciplines, the importance of a multidisciplinary perspective for contemporary international environmental public policies. Policy Conclusion Problems - Efficiency achievable through action taken in areas where the optimum can be defined exactly. Inefficiencies arising from the functioning of political markets. External stakeholders. Ecoterrorism. The environmental policy environment in the EU and its evolution, benefits and risks. Sustainability translated into public policy actions. An overview of EU environmentally oriented policies and their results. Proposals for solutions to selected problems of current EU environmental policies.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with an advanced overview of the rationale, strategies employed, options, limitations, and potential risks in implementing environmental policy at the international level.
A student who has successfully completed the course can: explain the principles of public environmental policy at the international level, characterise the mechanisms by which public environmental policy objectives are set at the international level, describe the specificities of public international environmental policy in comparison with other public policies, describe and explain the advantages and disadvantages of an interdisciplinary approach to the formulation of public international environmental policy objectives, interpret statistical data characterising the success of public policies. A student who has successfully completed the course will be able to: process data from publicly available sources and evaluate the degree of achievement of objectives set by environmentally oriented public policies at the international level, evaluate the expected results of currently implemented environmentally oriented public policies at international level and highlight any problems, propose changes in the content of environmentally oriented public policies at international level to achieve the intended objectives more quickly and effectively, assess the potential risks of inefficiency arising from the current implementation of environmentally oriented public policies at international level. assess other potential risks (sustainability, balance of measures taken, social impacts) arising from currently applied environmentally oriented public policies at international level. A student who has successfully completed the course is able to: solve according to the assignment the practical tasks, according to the assignment and assigned resources, competently assess the current situation and highlight the potential for inefficiencies and other risks, incorporate the specifics of policy decision-making into problem solving and reflect them in the results of his work, communicate clearly the details of the nature of the processes involved in shaping and implementation of environmentally oriented public policies at the international level, critically assess the situation, identify problems and propose solutions based on the knowledge acquired.
