Topics: BE teaching and learning 1. General Purpose English and Business English (BE) 2. BE learner and teacher 3. Current trends in BE 4. Analysing the needs of the learners (defining the learning purpose and course objectives, one-to-one v. group tuition). 5. Syllabus design. 6. Determining the aim and content of the course. 7. Teaching aids (activities and materials, their selection and evaluation) 8. Feedback, evaluation and assessment. Topics: Business English 1. Selected topics from: management, marketing, sectors of industry, and types of companies. 2. Communication in business (commercial correspondence, telephoning, socialising and social networking) 3. Negotiation 4. Money matters.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is aimed at not only theoretical but also practical acquisition of the aspects of Business English learning/teaching. Students will develop their communicative competence in the specific area of business, general business skills and will understand the underlying key aspects of learning/teaching Business English.
Based on the relevant theoretical background, the course evolves specific skills used in learning/teaching Business English.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Discussion, Self project defence, Presentation
Active participation in lessons, i.e completion of set tasks before, during and after lessons. Preparing, planning a project of the practice company (language agency). In case of absence = accomplishing tasks in LMS Moodle in the form of self-study.
