The students will be introduced to basic principles, methods and techniques of personal and social education. We will deal with various kinds of activities which are oriented mainly to developing skills in communication, empathy, social skills (establishing and maintaining relationships, solving problems, cooperation), and also supporting of understanding own personality. Most of the activities will be practical and each student will be allowed to participate actively. The course focuses on the integration of a cross-curricular subject called Personal and Social Education into English lessons through personal experience and reflection. The course also aims at the development of safe and positive classroom climate and the dynamics of the group.
The students will try out some drama techniques, improvisation, interaction activities, discussions, relaxation etc. in authentic situations during mutual communication and interaction. The course intends to develop personal abilities and skills of each individual to be able to live with oneself and with others (interaction, relationships) in the current social context.
