Course content
|
Czech language in current communication. Communication factors, types of communication, disciplines dealing with communication. Principles and main areas of Czech spelling. Czech vowel and consonant system. Vocabulary, its layers. Ways of enriching Czech vocabulary. Derivation. Less frequented types of word-formation. Accepting words from other languages. Proper names in vocabulary system and communication.

Learning outcomes
|
This course intends to activate and supplement knowledge and skills related to the Czech language which will improve the quality of both spoken and written forms of communication. These courses will predominantly consist of interpreting and discussing the stylistics of authentic texts. The choice of linguistic and stylistic issues is predominantly related to the use in communication for technical purposes. Apart from presenting an outline of the development of both the past and present Czech language situation, it will provide an insight into various linguistic layers, styles, and areas of communication.
The students will be able to analyse ortographical phenomena and will become familiar with the Czech ortography norm.

Compulsory attendance. Preparedness and active participation in the seminars. Final written test.
