Course content
Research strategies and methods of language teaching/learning research (survey, experiment, ethnography, phenomenology, grounded theory, mixed research, case studies, action research). Phases of research. Research questions and hypotheses. Good research issues (validity, reliability, credibility, etc.). Doing, analysing and presentig research projects. Form and content of the research report. Action research, its methodology and design (diagnostic and intervention phase); methods and tools for data collection and their analysis; Presentations of action research reports to different target groups (form and content); Quality of AR.

Learning outcomes
The subject is integrated with the empirical unit consisting of Teaching Practice II, Reflective seminar II, Evaluation by Tutor and Evaluation by Mentor. The empirical unit supports further student teachers' professional development in their expert knowledge, skills and general abilities. The courses are based on close cooperation of university tutors, mentors and student teachers. The aim of the subject is to acquire skills and knowledge of theoretical frameworks of the education research methodology in the field of English language teaching, research approaches, strategies, methods and techniques used in English language lessons research. Students will apply their research ability during doing their own small-scale researches in Teaching Practice II, they will present and critically evaluate their research experience in seminars and thus develop skills necessary for doing empirical researches in their own teaching practice.
The student will acquire knowledge of theoretical frameworks of the education research methodology in the field of English language teaching, is able to identify advantages and disadvantages of individual research approaches, strategies, methods and techniques used in English language lessons research. The student is able to do their own small-scale researches in Teaching Practice II, they are able to present and critically evaluate their research projects in seminars. The student will acquire skills necessary for doing empirical researches in their own teaching practice.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Student portfolio analysis, Self project defence

Doing action research. Completing the assigned tasks of ELT methodology research solved during the teaching practice in eportfolio Mahara, presentation and defence of the completed tasks. Oral exam (colloquium presentation and defence of the final research report of the action research based on the submitted materials including a list of literature, all the materials have to be shared three days before the colloquium).
