The seminar sums up general rules of academic writing in English and how to apply them on the format of a diploma paper in linguistics, literature, or cultural studies, and provides space for discussions and consultations on the individual papers. Time management. Structure of diploma thesis and formal criteria Content of diploma thesis: aim and purpose, topic - narrowing the topic, coherence Style of academic writing: grammar, diction, tone Exploring, researching, evaluating and using sources Making an outline (selecting subject headings) and writing the first draft.
