Students are required to prove their theoretical knowledge of the English language system and demonstrate it in a complex analysis of an authentic English text. Students also demonstrate their ability to apply theoretical knowledge in the process of foreign language teaching. Both theoretical knowledge and its practical application focus on morpho-syntactic, lexico-semantic and discourse level as well as on similarities and differences between English and Czech and on discussion of relevant aspects from the field of stylistics, pragmatics and corpus linguistics.
