Course content

Learning outcomes
General Didactics I is a part of the integrated block consisting of the following courses: General Didactics I, ELT Methodology I and Teaching Practice I. The main aim is to provide introduction to the notional apparatus of this area of study. Acquiring a system of basic facts and concepts helps to evolve students´ skill to orientate in complex issues related to the content and process of teaching / learning English to primary and lower-secondary school learners.
Content-based integration of the three courses develops students´ competence to identify specific problems, to pose questions, to analyse and evaluate their own experience and the experience of others.

As the subject is integrated with LDI1, PRX1, the credit is awarded on the basis of outcomes of all relevant courses, i.e. OBD1, LDI1, PRX1. The fundamental prerequisite is meeting all the requirements of all these subjects, i.e. in terms of OBD1: - active participation in seminars (13 contact lessons) = completing the tasks assigned - professional portfolio in Mahara: assingments, group work on concept maps (Google docs), essays, at least 4 annotations of academic sources on general didactics or TEFL, critical analysis of one of the academic sources studied - NOT a compulsory reading for annotations or critical analysis, a list of literature (ISO 690 or APA). DEADLINE: 6.1. 2017) - active participation in MOODLE (link: unicom.upce.cz; entrance key: OBD1_16) - voluntary assignments (excellence): own concept maps, a lesson plan OR group work on EFLpedia (including terminology) - oral interview
