Course content
|
Human being as homo ludens. Human being as ens amans and education based on fondness. Human being as a person and education based on a meeting. I and the Other, meeting the Face, non-indifference as a ground for education. Education in two concepts - as a symmetrical and as an asymmetrical relationship. The problem of home and absence of home in philosophical reflection. Language as a ground for education. Understanding and pre-understanding. The problem of corporeality in education. Science, technique, and modern education. Postmodern reflection of education and its anthropological dimension. Episteme, discursivity, deconstruction. Fink's criticism of pedagogical anthropology. Dilemmas and antinomy in education.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of this course is to introduce students to the philosophical and anthropological grounds of modern pedagogical theories. The themes sum up the anthropological functions from the beginning of the 20th century till today. They mostly focus on the problem of the personality of an educator and of the person who is educated with the prism of modern pedagogical theories, on their philosophical evaluation and methodological grounds. The course finishes with Fink's criticism of pedagogical anthropology and Heidegger's critique of anthropologism in modern philosophy.
Acquired knowledge will enable students to perceive the possibilities, boundaries, and limits of understanding of another and to understand education as a cultivation of the person´s abilities - this is important for the development of education in the contemporary "society of knowledge". The competencies will be focused on the creative development of a global education, in its human, i.e. value-oriented and ethical dimension.

Active participation during seminars will involve reading and interpreting the chosen philosophical texts. To receive credit, students must demonstrate an ability to understand the concepts and the problems and the context of anthropological thinking in the history of philosophy, and display an understanding of the recommended textbook and the topics dealt with in lectures, as well as one literature title.
