Course content
1. Introduction to Latin as a language; Latin and Indo-European languages; international Latinisms 2. I. Declension, I. Conjugation, vocabulary I. 3. II. Declension, II. Conjugation, vocabulary II. 4. III., IV. Declension, III., IV. Conjugation; vocabulary III. 5. Irregular nouns and verbs, vocabulary IV. 6. Active and passive 7. Basic prepositions and conjunctions; prepositional phrases. 8. Imperfect and future tenses 9. Adverbs and participles 10. Perfect tense 11. Basic sentence structures (sentences with multiple verbs; accusative + infinitive; nominative + infinitive; absolute ablative). 12. Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to equip students with knowledge of basic Latin grammar and the necessary general vocabulary so that they are able to gradually master basic Latin philosophical terminology, common phrases and get acquainted with the form of Latin formulation of philosophical content.
Knowledge of basic Latin philosophical terminology and understanding of simple Latin sentences from the field of philosophy.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

The aim is to understand simple Latin sentences from the field of philosophy through grammatical analysis with the help of supporting tools (dictionary, grammar guide). Written test on grammar and vocabulary.
