Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to introduce world literature to students, inspiring them to respect the parallels and differences between national literatures in individual historical periods, and developing their ability to analyze literary text. Students will improve their knowledge of literary theory, learn to be more sensible when reading texts, develop their communicative competence during the presentation of their seminar papers and the discussions following.
The students are introduced to independent editor's work, archive work and publishing in media in the realm of developing European cultural awareness; they will gather knowledge and skills fully utilizable in propagation of translation plans and in expert interpretation of currently published texts from Czech and world literature.

Credit is dependent upon 80% attendance in seminars; formulating a paper (an interpretation of three works); providing notes on compulsory world literature.
