Course content
1. Basic geographic and demographic information about Poland. Polish waters and mountains. 2. Cultural centers in the past and present, the traditional division of Polish territory (historically and culturally distinct area) 3. Socio-political and administrative establishment of Poland. School system in Poland. 4. Basic information on the Polish economy 5. Made in Poland - typical Polish products. 6. Poland, the current democracy: parliamentary system, political parties, government authorities. 7. Polish national parks and protected areas. Polish tourist industry. Attractions, monuments, protected by UNESCO. 8. Polish cities and their economic and cultural significance (Szczecin, Gdańsk, Gdynia, Białystok, Lublin, Warsaw, Wrocław, Kraków, Poznań, Katowice, Rzeszow, Łódź). 9. Contemporary Polish emigration, the Polish diaspora in the world and the Czech Republic, the Polish army outside the borders of Poland. 10. Today's Polish-Czech relations. The image of Poland in the Czech Internet.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Methods of individual activities, Demonstration
Learning outcomes
Obtaining knowledge about Poland and Polish culture. Expanding the repertoire of own communication skills - written and spoken speech.
A student, who chooses this course, should have a basic knowledge of the language and should be able to use it actively.
Prerequisites
The basics knowledge of Polish language.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Systematic monitoring

Active participation in the lessons, presenting a short paper, passing a final test, regular attendance (max. two absences).
