Course content
Academic style: linguistics, literature, history, law, economy, natural science. Non-fiction: encyclopaedia, non-fiction literature. Journalism: article, review, essay. Administration: application, resume, letter of attorney, formal correspondence. Fine literature: prose, poetry.

Learning outcomes

Students will be able to work with academic texts, analyze it, translate it and orientate themselves in a new vocabulary via translation of various texts in Bulgarian language.

Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment

Requirements for successful completion: submission of Czech translation from extract of Bulgarian fine literature or academic text. The length of the paper will be at least 3 pages - that is 5500 symbols. Translation will be submitted together with a copy of the chosen text. Report (approx 15 minutes long) on a topic agreed in advance, active participation in the seminar, maximum of 3 nonattendances. In case of a higher number of nonattendances there will be additional work required.
