Course content
The beginings of art in Slovenia Art in the middle-ages, its ways, inspiration, echoes of Parlerian gothic style in Slovenia (Ptujska Gora) Renaissance and Baroque art in Slovenia, space between Italian and Northern art, foreign impulses and different art workshops Art of the 19th century - national topics, historic styles, realism Slovenian modern painting - from impressionism to surrealism Art of the 20th century - Plečnik and his works in the Czech Republic, its architectural concepts, another alternatives (Fabiani, Vurnik, Ravnikar)

Learning outcomes
The course will present the key periods of history of Slovenian art, especially the relations with the Czech art history (Gothic art, brothers Šubic, Jakac, Plečnik). It will present the periods, personalities and also important scientists in Slovenian art history.
Student will gain the knowledge of history of Slovenian art, his main works and artist and also the connections between Slovenian art and Europian art, with special attention to Czech art history. He will be able to recognize the basic characteristics of periods of Europian art and will be able to judge Slovenian specifics in reception and acceptance of art impulses from elsewhere.
