Course content
Style - changes of its understanding and various levels of generalisation. Style changes in contemporary communication. Reflection of the influence of stylistic and communicative factors in language utterances. Means contributing to the construction of utterance/communication/text. Text, its qualities and construction. Criteria of textuality. Subject problem of a text, ways of forming a theme, displaying and language forming of relations within time and space, stylisation of communication. Interpretation approaches to a literary work and to individual textual levels. Development of the style of Czech literature from the National Uprising to the 20th century.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Methods of individual activities, Monitoring
Learning outcomes
Relationship between the theory of communication and stylistics. Basic terminology of stylistics. System of super-individual styles and the outline of their means of expression. Text and its creation. Genres and types of texts. Interpretation of selected works of the 19th and 20th century Czech literature.
On the basis of the interpretation of authentic texts or students' attempts of creation of the texts, defined in style and genre, there will be developed in the course abilities to evaluate the means of expression (language, style, construction, etc.) from viewpoint of adequacy of their usage.

Compulsory seminar attendance. Preparation for seminars and active participation. Examination - interpretation of a literary text selected by the student, stylistic theory according to lectures and recommended literature
