Course content
1. Historical changes of literary culture and various concepts of literariness 2. Fictional worlds theory as a dominant pardigm of current literary theory 3. Literary communication in media context, intermediality and remediation 4. Narrative analysis of storytelling methods, narrator and narrative strategies 5. Genre transformations in current literary culture, popular literature influences 6. Aristotle´s Poetics as the starting point of Western literary thinking 7. Foundations of structural and poststructural approach to literature 8. Current paradigms of literary science in interdisciplinary context

Learning outcomes
The lectures are aimed to introduce main paradigms and conceptual lines of current literary theory thinking on the background of literary culture concepts, the principles of so called literary life will be simultaneously integrated into broader interdisciplinary methodological, historical and cultural, easthetic and mainly media contexts. Some of the themes will be delt into more details during the seminar interpretations of selected Czech prose, while the dominant methodical areas will be represented by narratology and topology, practical hermeneutics and readership issues or the wider context of contemporary literary communication. Priority attention will be focused on methodological impulses of structural and poststructural literary theory, phenomenology and cognitive literary science, feminist critique and gender studies, theory of communication and sociology of literature.
The course graduates will be able to analyze various artistic or journalistic, essayistic and non-fiction texts, to find a corresponding secondary literature and understand the meaning of the text in the context of its cultural and historical determinations. All of these provides them with the general insight into structure and different functions of text communication, including its critical reading.

Oral examination, Student performance assessment, Work-related product analysis

Final exam will be performed as a critical dialogue concerning the topics included in lectures and seminars program, together with individually chosen monographs of secondary literature in the minimal amount of five books, three of them compulsory and digested. The seminar will be finished with written test of basic poetic terms, passing this is, apart from regular attendance,the necessary condition for the oral exam admission.
