Classical structuralist anthropology: - Claude Lévi-Strauss and hi research on myth Interpretative or symbolical anthropology: - Cliford Geertz Criticism of interpretative anthropology: - Talal Asad Symbolical anthropology and ritual studies: - Victor Turner Anthropology of body and research on religion: - Mary Douglas Rituals without meaning and criticism of anthropology: - Frits Staal Gender and research of religion: - construction of gender in contemporary Paganism Ethnohermeneutics: - Armin Geerrtz Cognitive anthropology: - Pascal Boyer Contemporary Czech Anthropology of religion: - Barbora Spalová and power relations in contemporary Czech Christianity

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Stimulating activities (simulation, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The goal of course is to introduction of students to the problems of anthropology of religion. The students will be acquainted with the crucial texts of significant anthropologists of religion. Second semestr will be dedicate to anthropologist's thinking since half of 20th century to present. The main emphasis will be on interpretative anthropology and ethnohermeneutic.
Interrpretation of scholars texts in foreign language. Reflextion of theoretical problems of study of religion. Basic knowledge of history of anthropology of religon.
Prerequisites
Ability of reading of english scholars texts.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Didactic test, Discussion

- active participation in the seminar (preperation from lecture to lecture, two absences are tolerated) - assumption of report of the lecture - successful pass of the endings test
