Learning outcomes
|
The aim of this course is to broaden the understanding and perception of basic cultural structures, that have been shaping the opinion of the Western world about other cultures. Students will learn about some important theses and analyses of several important texts, that have been discussed since the time of their publishing.
Students will develop their abilites to understand and to discuss scholarly text in English, as well as their writting skill in this language. They will also develop their analytical thought and skills in argumentation.

Assessment methods and criteria

Work-related product analysis, Discussion
Punctual presence in the meetings, active participation and homework (reading of materials, preparation of questions). It is also compulsory to formulate one problem to chosen theme and this problem work out as mind-map and finally as written paper. Mind-map must be submited not later than in the half of course duration, paper not later than at the last meeting (minimum is 6 pages A4 in Microsoft Word format, script 12).
