Jesus Christ. Early Church. Christianity in the patristic period. Christianity in the Middle Ages. Christianity in the period of Renaissance and Reformation. Christianity in the enlightenment period. Christianity in the modern period.

Learning outcomes
|
The course concentrates on the history of Christian thought with a view to the historical development of the West. Its objective is also to introduce Christian spirituality and its transformations during the church history.
Students will gain an understanding of Christian spirituality and its influence in the history of the West. They will also learn about the most important Christian characters.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written examination, Discussion
Attendance at lectures is obligatory (min. 80%). The examination will be verifying of knowledge of delivered lectures and written texts, knowledge of the monography by W. Beinert and knowledge of the Bible. A chosen book by an influential author in the development of Western Christianity will be also discussed.
