The objective of this course is to introduce students to such religious attitudes as verbal orthodoxy, Biblical fundamentalism, conservatism, traditionalism, fanaticism, religious extremism, and religiously motivated violence. This course will also consider reactions to these attitudes inside religions themselves (religious liberalism, progressivism, ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue), the political dimension of these attitudes, and the practical and possible help that could perhaps be provided by the Religious Studies.
Students will get basic knowledge of pressing themes that are connected with religious fundamentalism, and they will also practice they skills in oral presentation.
