Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to carry out an applied research project. The course is focused on the deepening of the general fieldwork skills and at the same time develops skills typical for applied research - accommodating demands of the contractor and cooperating in a team on a common topic. It teaches students to work with Atlas.ti qualitative data analysis software. In the winter semester of 2025/26, we will be conducting research for a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting people living with a specific disease.
The course develops skills typical for applied anthropologyresponding to the requirements of the research client and collaborating in a team on a common topic. It teaches students to work with Atlas.ti qualitative data analysis software, which they can then use throughout their studies. It deepens students´ ability to conduct fieldwork, analyze data, and propose specific solutions.

Prerequisites
The subject is open to all students, who want to get an experience with the research process.
Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Work-related product analysis
The subject requires regular meeting and work on the research (doing interviews and observation), its processing, presentations during discussions with partners and handing in the outputs in the text form. Because the results have to really function in practice, it requires a responsible approach to work. Not the mark in the index, but the satisfied client is the most important. It is obligatory for applied anthropology specialization.
