Course content
|
general introduction to the topic. problems of translation and trans-cultural transfer. pre-colombian literatures as specific anthropologigal source. literatures of Mesoamerica and Mexico - aztec kodex and important authors. Maya literature - Popol Vuh, books of Chilam Balam. andean literature and dramas - Apu Ollantay. Guaraní literature and poems. native authors of post-conquista chronicles. relation of pre-colombian literatures to native languages of Latin America, ethno-revitailzation.

|
Student will be introduced to basic aspects of the pre-colombian literatures, he/she will be familiarized with specific historical, cultural and linguistic background.
Student will be able to understand the problem in specific cultural and historical context, she/he will be able to use the phenomenon as specific anthropological source.
