Course content
|
Pronunciation and transcription. Nominative of nouns, article and its use. Personal pronouns and plural of nouns. Cardinal numbers and demonstrative pronouns. Relative, interrogative, indefinite and negative pronouns. Present tense of the verb to be. Prepositions. Present tense of verbs of the I. and II. class.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of the course is to present the elementary level of so-called Slovak Roma language (the most wide-spread dialect of Roma language in the CR and SR).
Students will learn the structure of the language, its phonetic features and will learn elementary vocabulary and phrases, they will learn how to make plural of nouns and adjectives, and decline the verb to be. At the end of the course, students will be able to make simple sentences in the present tense (using the verb to be) and will understand such sentences.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral performance analysis, Discussion, Systematic monitoring
Active participation in seminars, permitted absences: 2; regular homework - ongoing testing (short vocabulary tests and 3 major tests). For major tests, a minimum score of 80 points (out of 100) is required in one of the first two tests and in the final test (this is a condition for obtaining credit). The first test cannot be retaken, but two retake dates are available for the other two tests.
