Course content
1. What is sociology. Sociological knowledge 2. History of sociology I - Comte and Marx, traditional and modern society 3. History of sociology II - Durkheim and Weber 4. History of sociology III - Simmel, Pareto, Chicago sociology school 5. HIstory of sociology IV - Frankfurt school, Adorno, MArcus, Habermas 6. Sociology of economy 7. Ethnicity, race and nationalism 8. Power, authority and state 9. Family, gender, sexuality and relationships 10. Sociology of religion 11. Space, urbanity and gloablization 12. Post-COVID society 13. Recapitulation

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing)

Learning outcomes
The course is aimed for students accross study fields and introduces general overview of sociological history, thinking, methodology and theory. It is devided into two parts; in the first one it introduces major figures of classical sociology and amplifies the impact of their work. The other one presents major current topics of sociology.
A basic overview of the history of the field and the main topics of study with reference to current social developments. Development of critical thinking.
