Course content
|
The turn of the 1960s and 1970s. Film as an instrument in social and political struggles. Topics from the Vietnam war and "class struggle" to environmental and social issues to Third world and post-colonial problems. Film as a weapon, an instrument of social and political manipulation. Films dedicated to the struggle against nuclear power plants, military bases, and films about the consequences of industrial disasters. Popular manipulation by the contemporary politically motivated authors.

Learning outcomes
|
The course will deal with a specialised film genre - social intervention film, that developed at the turn of 1960s and 1970s. The course will consists of lectures, film screenings and discussions with film authors.
Students will learn to analyze social intervention films and will acquire the key skills for their development.
