Course content
Social sciences and their characteristics in scientific enquiry. Important historical moments of the qualitative research and methodology of classic social/cultural anthropology. Changes in the approach of social/cultural anthropology. Qualitative and quantitative methodology. Research Project. Ethics. Reflexivity of researcher. Observation (participant observation,direct observation, indirect and hidden observation). Interview (structured interview, semi-structured, non-structured interview, informal), biographic method. Case study, focus group, Anchored theory. Data analysis. Research report.

Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to present the basic overview of anthropological methodology. Students will be introduced to the terminology, to the main sources of inspiration of current anthropology and to basic anthropological questions. They will acquire knowledge of basic anthropological methods and techniques of data collection and its processing. They will learn how to apply the basic methods and techniques of anthropological research.
After the course students will be able to describe elementary anthropological methods of data collection and processing. They will be able to choose appropriate steps of their own inquiry.

Attendance at the lectures is expected. Course will be concluded by a written exam. Attendance at the seminars is required, study of set texts and discussion and fulfilling set tasks.
