Course content
Basic terminology of sociology of politics. Definition of the subject matter of sociology of politics and its position in sociology. Relationship of sociology of politics, politic science and history. Pluralistic theory of state. Democratic governments. Totalitarian governments (Fascism, Stalinism, Nazism). Classical definition of democracy. Liberal democracy. Current models of democracy. Political parties and their role in modern society. Power, authority and bureaucracy.

Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to present general overview of sociology of politics, which deals mainly with the function of a state in society, with the characteristics of political parties, various political movements and lobbyist groups, including their function in current politics. The course also presents the theory of democracy, its historical development and theory of international relations.
The students will be able to reflect on the theory of democracy, its historical development and theories of international relations
