Course content
|
Definition of social and cultural anthropology. Beginnings and constitution of social and cultural anthropology. History of social and cultural anthropology and their main movements. Evolutionary and diffusionistic anthropology. Current anthropological movements. Field research, participatory observation, guided interview, etc. Culture, social systems. Matrimony, family, and kinship systems. Economic systems. Language and society. Religion, magic and mythology.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of the seminar (for the lectures Introduction to anthropology) is to introduce the students to the beginnings and development of anthropology and its differentiation to individual sub-disciplines, sub-fields and disciplines by means of analysis of particular key works. Special attention is paid to social anthropology.
Students will acquire knowledge and skills necessary for individual work with anthropological data. Students will be able to critically evaluate anthropological data.
