Course content
Introduction to the study of the subject, basic literature, methodology. Conceptual map of the governance system. Basic concepts of management, development of management theories Development of education administration and management in the Czech lands and abroad. Legal framework of education and training. Development of legislation and main trends. Models of administration and management in the Czech Republic and abroad. School culture School climate, classroom climate. Development of the school as an organisation. School management and its specifics. Marketing of the school. Quality and its evaluation. Selected problems of people management (leadership). Relational pathology in schools. School support system, educational counselling. Free topic according to current trends and student interest.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
  • Preparation of a presentation (report) - 12 hours per semester
  • Preparation for a credit (assessment) - 30 hours per semester
  • Participation in classes - 26 hours per semester
  • Independent critical reading - 22 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The objective of this course is to introduce to students the basic problems of the management of school system in the Czech Republic and in the world, both in the past and in present days.
Students will be able to understand the problem, to analyze the features and connections, to evaluate and classify new information into the structure of the whole system - while also taking into account strategic trends and perspectives. Emphasis is given to the management of regional education and its administrative and organizational problems.
