Course content
Theoretical background of working with groups Definition of group work and therapeutic work Methods and techniques used in group work Group dynamics Problematic situations in the group Dealing with aggression in children Techniques aimed at training non-verbal communication skills Techniques aimed at developing verbal communication skills Techniques aimed at training social skills. Conversation management, empathy, active listening, feedback Activities to promote positive group relationships, positive personal development Activities to develop cooperation Reflection on own contribution to the work of the group, personal gain and personal development perspectives in this area

Learning activities and teaching methods
Stimulating activities (simulation, games, drama)
  • Participation in classes - 26 hours per semester
  • Team project - 25 hours per semester
  • Independent critical reading - 20 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 13 hours per semester
  • Data/material collection - 6 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Students will gain the necessary theoretical knowledge of methods and techniques of group and therapeutic work with children and youth. Students are able to playfully lead a block of activities focused on the main elements of group work (communication, group dynamics, social skills training, correction of problematic behaviour, communicating demands and needs, tolerating differences, etc.), which are common to most children's groups, whether in formal, non-formal or special education.
The student will be able to use group dynamics in re-education and re-socialization processes to develop positive social interactions of children.
