Course content
Science and scientism in society. The terminology and the basic concepts of the methodology. The theory of the research problem and its lexical and stylistic characteristics. Qualitative and quantitative research. The function and the role of composite researches. The characteristics and the structure of quantitative researches (the hypothesis, research body, research methods, the validity and reliability of the devices, verbal and graphic processing and the interpretation of the data). The characteristics of the qualitative researches (the methodology and the research schools ? hermeneutics, phenomenology, Chicago and Frankfurt school, constructivism, the approaches of the qualitative research, the planning of the research, the coding and representing the data, the interpretation of the research. The analysis of the released researches (proceedings from the international conferences). The defences of students´ own research projects. The perspectives of the researches and their impact on the change in the society.

Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to introduce the students to the various approaches to the research and to make them acquire the most commonly used research methods with regard to pedagogical disciplines.
The students will enhance their knowledge in the field of methodology of science research with regard to the students´ specialization.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Self project defence

The necessary part of the exam is the research investigation based on the student?s own specialisation. The project is also supposed to include the proposal of the solution, the interpretation and the suggestion how to use the outcomes of the project in a professional field. The condition is the submission of partial assignments. 80% attendance at seminars.
