Course content
The possibilities of education of ethnic and language minorities in majority society (the aims, organisation, content, methods) in an international context. The question of minorities in the Czech Republic. Education as an important tool for the coexistence in multicultural society. The education towards tolerance, against racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism. Pedagogical particularities when working with minority and ethnic groups. Supporting organisations in the Czech Republic, EU, USA and other countries.

Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to introduce the students to the problems of intercultural and multicultural coexistence in society in particular socio-cultural systems. The attention will be drawn to the link between the individual and social reality of the life of minority groups in a pedagogical dimension (education), interpersonal dimension and social dimension (culture, traditions, norms and the way of life etc.)
The students will enhance their knowledge in the field of multicultural pedagogy with regard to the students´ specialization.

Self project defence

Attendance at least 80%. A written assignment (1 obligatory, 2 recommended publications and at least 1 more source used). Self-study of the obligatory and recommended sources.
