Course content
|
Introduction to social pedagogy and social work. The relationship between social pedagogy and social work. Socialization of an individual in the environment. The family as an institution and as a network of relationships. The institutional operation of various educational institutions - schools, constitutional care. The influence of the peers, local environment, and media in the socialization of an individual. Social and legal care of a child. The care of a substitute family; its types and differences. The current situation of the care of substitute families in the Czech Republic. Prevention and various forms of educational and socially working influences on an individual as well as his/her close relations. Threatened groups; youths at risk; specific problem categories.

Learning outcomes
|
The objective of this course is to introduce to students two related disciplines - social pedagogic and social work. It is focused on selected current questions of social and legal child care and care of the young, the environment and education, socialization, common methods of social work, constitutional care, substitute family education, and so on.
Students will know the basic theoretical grounds of social pedagogy and social work, institutions in which social pedagogy is applied and will be able to understand the problems of the selected themes of social pedagogy that focus on the socialization of individuality in the environment.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written examination
Credit is dependent on active participation in seminars and individual work based on the study of scholarly literature. There is also a written test.
