Course content
The position of archaeology among the other social and nature sciences; explanation of basic concepts. Archaeological work stations in the Czech Republic; fundamental literature and magazines. Legislative norms that are connected with archaeology. Contemporary Czech society and its relationship to archaeology; requirements put on archaeology by the government, by self-government, and by the private sector. The Old and Middle Stone Ages - brief characteristics, chronological order, important sites, characteristics of individual cultures, types, fields, etc.; specification of further technical literature. The New Stone Age. The Late Stone Age. The Bronze Age - Early and Middle. The Bronze Age - New and Late. The Early Iron Age - "Halštat" The New Iron Age - "Latén" Roman Age. Note 1. Learning outcomes
The target of this course is to inform students about the importance of archaeology, about basic terminology of this science, about the archaeological heritage and its protection.
After passing this course, students will understand basic scientific terminology, individual types of archaeological heritage and its protection.

Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation

Credit will be assessed through a written analysis of an archaeological topic (a minimum of five pages); sufficient participation in lectures (80 % minimum).
