Course content
1. Aims and methods of archaeology. 2. Different specialisations in prehistoric archaeology and their basic principles (classical, biblical, experimental, maritime, landscape etc.). 3. Structure of archaeological institutions. 4. History of the research. 5. Transdisciplinary collaboration. 6. Archaeologicla literature. 7. Archaeological databasis. 8. Archaeological terminology. 9. Archaeological excavation - organisation and terms of prehistoric research. 10. Different kinds of archaeological sources and work with them. 11. Chronology. 12. Basic information on european prehistory.

Learning outcomes
Introduction to the Prehistory aims to present basic points which are important when studying european prehistory. Special focus is given to the metodology of archaeological research and processing of archaeological finds.
Understanding basic methodology will help the humanities students to understand archaeological publications better regardless of their specialization. It is not allowed to use artificial intelligence when preparing any tasks connected to this course.

Critical reading of 5 publications. Written test, preparation for lessons in the form of self-study from assigned texts.
