Course content
Topics: Development of typefaces; using abbreviations. A study of Neo-Gothic cursive script. A study of humanistic writing. Reading written documents from the 18th century. Reading written documents from the 19th century. Reading written documents from the 20th century. Creating of editions.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to master the knowledge of modern paleography and its development. The fundamental aim will be to teach students to read basic types of documents originating in the Czech lands in the period from the 18th to the 20th century, especially sources of an institutional and personal nature.

Completion of the Paleography 1 (BPAL1) course.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment

Regular attendance at classes (max. 3 unexcused absences). Home preparation of paleographic texts, active participation in classes, final text with a minimum success rate of 50%. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the course is permitted, up to level 3 as set by the faculty rules for the use of AI.
