Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic problems, methodological procedures and current trends in historical demography. The students will primarily get acquainted with basic demographic indicators and the possibilities of population research, then attention will be paid to the phenomena that influence population development not only in the Czech lands but on the entire European continent. These are mainly geographic mobility, migration, urbanization and the demographic transition, which has fundamentally influenced the form and functioning of the family and whose consequences are still reflected today.
Graduates of the course will gain a basic overview of the discipline, the source base, appropriate processing methods and learn the practical skills necessary for historical-demographic research.
