Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with advanced knowledge of iconography and the interpretation of symbolism in selected works of art. The possibilities of iconological interpretation are demonstrated in lectures on selected paintings, sculptures, and architectural monuments of domestic and European art from antiquity to the 20th century. In the seminar part, students will learn various forms of interpretative methods and teamwork on assigned tasks.

Minimum attendance of 80% of classes. Students will receive credit based on an oral interview focused on testing their knowledge of the material covered and their reading. Before the oral interview, students will submit a reading list to the instructor, which will contain at least 8 selected titles, including synthetic chapters from overview compendiums from the basic and recommended literature. Students are required to actively participate in seminars and submit completed assignments (a maximum of 2 absences per semester are allowed). During the semester, students will complete at least 1 individual assignment (submitted written version of a report) and 1 team assignment (preparation of a presentation on a given topic).
