Students will get acquainted with the concept of "gender" and its use as an analytical category in the humanities. Special emphasis will be placed on the possibilities of using gender analysis in historiography. Students will gain not only a basic theoretical insight into gender issues but through reading and subsequent analysis of selected texts will learn ways to apply gender analysis to specific sources, which will then allow them to include gender optics in their own research.
