Learning outcomes
The course aims to teach students select chapters from the history of art in the Czech lands from ca. the 9th century until today. The discussed periods of art production will help familiarize the students with the art made throughout the thousand-year history of the Czech lands. Special attention will be paid to the Medieval period, the early modern period and the post-modern period. The individual sections will present the era of Great Moravia, the Romanesque and Gothic styles, the specific expressions of the Czech Renaissance, the Baroque, and the styles of the 19th and 20th centuries. The course will be partly presented via lectures and partly via seminars. As part of the seminars, the students will be required to present a chosen topic from the field of Central European art.
