The aim of the course is to follow the main research trends, directions, and methods of key historical topics of the 19th and 20th centuries through colloquia and lectures by prominent researchers. In consultation with the course supervisor and their advisor, students will write a thesis of at least 20 pages on a topic closely related to the topic of their dissertation. They will submit their thesis to the members of the committee by the agreed deadline before the exam. The exam will consist of a discussion of the thesis. Students will also demonstrate a good understanding of current domestic and European historical research focused on the 19th and 20th centuries.
