Part of the state doctoral examination for students who began their studies before spring 2025 is the submission of a specialized article. This is a specialized text with footnotes, which is a working part of the future dissertation. The article should be 25-30 standard pages long (i.e., 45,000-54,000 characters) and should be submitted, after consultation with the supervisor, no later than one week before submitting the application for the state examination to the doctoral program guarantor for formal review. After approval, it is submitted together with the application for the state examination to the Department for International Relations and Doctoral Studies. The text is then reviewed by the state examination committee and its defense is the second part of the state examination (after completing PABS2/PABN2). A brief presentation of the article is followed by a discussion of the work between the doctoral student and the members of the examination committee.
