|
Course objective consists in making students possible to learn a book entirely considering historical, socio-demographic and technological aspects. There is accentuated understanding comprehensive continuity of book history both in the world and Czech Republic territory resulting from fundamental knowledge of art history, aesthetics, literary history and codicology.
Students are lectured on book historical development considering the history of alphabet, writing agents and means from ancient time to modern times. Students are capable of mastering historical book metamorphosis considering book binding and decoration. They get acquainted with preserved specimens, both hand-written and printed, and significant book culture centres.
